contact thermometer
contact thermometers are mainly used for direct temperature measurement on surfaces of solid bodies or liquids and are therefore also called surface temperature sensors.
In some cases, the surface temperature is only measured indirectly in order to determine attributable temperature influences.
(Pipe contact thermometers, for example, determine the temperature of the substance flowing in the pipe via the surface temperature)
